Greetings Members and Not-Yet-Members,
When I came to the Capital District in 1988, I was opposed to joining AWRT; now AWM. I refused to be part of an organization that focused on the advancement of women in the media; and not the advancement of ALL in the media.
Obviously, that has changed.
What changed my mind? Going to the events, meeting everyone that attends, networking and getting a chance to meet with local businesses. Once I got to the events, it was clear that this was not an organization just for women. Men are equally represented.
Each month, the Capital District Chapter of AWM presents a luncheon marketing panel. Most of the time, the panel discussion is done by local business owners. They teach us about their business and tell us about their marketing strategies. We become smarter and more strategic by listening.
In addition to the luncheon marketing panels, we have fundraisers, breakfast meet-and-greets with prominent individuals and social events.
At each and every event, I can honestly say that I learn something that helps me be better at my job. I get leads and I always meet someone new.
We get guidance and direction from National AWM; but are nimble enough to chart our own course.
So, have you joined yet? If so, thank you. Your membership helps us keep the Chapter going and earns you certain privileges. If not, please consider joining; it will be the best $25 you’ve ever spent on yourself.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, best wishes for a successful year and we look forward to seeing you at our events.
